LIU Dawei was born in Zhucheng, Shandong Province in 1945. He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Inner Mongolia Normal University in 1968 and completed his Masters degree in Chinese painting at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1980. He is currently professor and head of the Fine Arts Department of the People’s Liberation Army Faculty of Art, vice-president of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, chairman of the China Artist Association, honorary director of the China Painting Society and postgraduate and doctoral tutor at the China Art Research Institute.
